City councilors are playing increasingly important roles in settings like ours, given the breadth and depth of issues facing us here in the West. Adapting to climate change, population growth and the consequent impacts on local economies require smart visioning now.
Dean Brookie brings the kinds of leadership skills and professional expertise needed by the Durango City Council to address such concerns and should be re-elected. As Mayor during the Gold King Mine Spill, Brookie worked at local, regional state and federal levels to represent us well.
At a moment when we were waking up to the threat of thousands of abandoned mine sites, Brookie moved forward meeting with constituents and elected officials. Most notably he arranged meetings with the Governor and members of the Silverton community in a timely fashion leading to the approval of superfund status for the mine disaster clean up.
Dean Brookie knows how to build consensus and bipartisan compromise. Vote for his re-election to the Durango City Council.
