The heavy burden and shame I have experienced since Donald Trump became president was finally, at least temporally, lifted at the Durango Arts Center, where I was privileged enough to attend the enjoyable play, “God Of Carnage,” excellently produced, directed and acted by The Merely Players in collaboration with the DAC.
To be able to again, temporarily, rid myself of the horrors of the political stage and both laugh and feel amazement for the four actors who gave such spectacular performances was a joy.
It’s truly too bad if you missed it. I must add my little brava and bravo along with my call for many deserved curtain calls. Thank you to all involved, on stage and behind the scenes. Thank you for your professional work.
With professional theater so often enjoyed, I do hope for the expansion of the arts into a certified Creative District. The arts are very welcome in my life for arts sake, as well as the sanity and balance it can bring to us mortals. And keep it affordable, please. Not like the ski resorts that prohibit too many locals from enjoying what is here and are part of what they covet but cannot afford (and that’s another letter, regarding wages and affordability in Durango).
Back to the political stage. In one sense, there is a curtain call: the next election. I do hope common sense prevails before too much damage is done. So brava and bravo to the protesters and to the Congressional representatives who support their constituents instead of their party and this “theater of the absurd” administration.
