More information on snowfall needed

Don’t you just know that The Durango Herald is my favorite newspaper?

From seven days a week down to four and failing to publish the “Sunday Funnies” today, May 6.

I have recently made two suggestions that the Herald has evidently chosen to reject. I have suggested that they publish the Snotel report, showing the water content of the snow in the basin, simultaneously with the river flow chart.

I have indicated that I am both interested in the amount of water coming down the Animas and how much remains to runoff. Is anybody else interested?

I also told the Herald that I would be interested in a follow-up to the article on Coal Bank Pass getting over 151 inches of snow, which was then a record, and it was still snowing.

I wanted to know how much snow the pass ultimately received, and if they were inclined to include information about Molas and Red Mountain, too. That would be good.

I admit that my request may have been premature as it continued to snow (and may snow some more), but ultimately, I’d like to know. Is anybody else interested?

This is probably the shortest letter to the editor that I have ever written.

Editor’s note: The Funnies were included in the May 6 weekend edition.
