Health department offers cancer test
San Juan Basin Health Department is participating in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Women ages 40 to 64 are urged to talk with their health-care provider about breast cancer screening. Providers can help women decide when and how often to get mammograms.
San Juan Basin Health provides screenings for breast and cervical cancer in Archuleta and La Plata counties.
Through the Women’s Wellness Connection (www.womenswellnessconnection.org), low-income women between 40 and 64 may qualify for free breast exams, pap tests and pelvic exams. Referrals for free mammograms are available for women who qualify.
