Save our co-op, vote Mars, Blake, Peters, McKnight

I proudly served on the LPEA Board for 30 years, including as president during challenging times, and as LPEA’s Tri-State representative for a decade. I’ve seen firsthand how critical our Tri-State partnership has been for affordable, reliable electricity.

Merging with Tri-State balanced energy needs between summer- and winter-heavy users, lowering rates across the board. It was one of the smartest moves we ever made. Now, LPEA’s current board is dismantling that success. Their decision to buy out of Tri-State is reckless and financially unsound. Rates will rise, and members will bear the burden.

Special interest groups like the San Juan Citizens Alliance have spent heavily to elect directors who follow an outside agenda rather than act independently. Millions of our dollars have been wasted suing Tri-State – a company we, as LPEA members, partly own – instead of working collaboratively. Meanwhile, CEO salaries have ballooned, and critical decisions are made behind closed doors.

We deserve better. We deserve directors who think for themselves, focus on the members and protect the future of LPEA. That’s why I am endorsing Dusty Mars (District 1), Brad Blake (District 2), Dave Peters (District 3), and Lyle McKnight (District 4).

Vote to save our co-op before it’s too late.
