I fear for my safety while cycling on the river trail. I have had several close calls almost being knocked off my bike by unleashed dogs. Often I have thought, “somebody's going to get killed out here.” Well, somebody has now.
Is the city finally going to do something about this? My sense of it is that while there are dog owners who want to refuse to obey this law, the majority of citizens want this law enforced.
The time has come. Increase the fine. Enforce a zero-tolerance policy for unleashed dogs on city streets and parks with hefty fines that increase each time for repeat offenders. Do this before somebody else is seriously maimed or dies.
Otherwise, it will happen again.
