The Durango High School girls tennis team sent its seniors out in winning fashion over the weekend by beating both Grand Junction Central and Montrose 4-3.
Durango (4-2, 4-2 4A/5A Southwestern League) took down Grand Junction Central (5-4, 3-4) on Friday when Sarah Harrelson and Maggie Hackett won the top singles matches. Harrelson won 6-3, 7-5, and Hackett won 6-3, 6-0.
Hannah Liberman lost her singles match 6-1, 2-6, 5-10.
Chloe West and Ruby DeCora won their doubles match for Durango, 6-1, 6-4. Lily Chick and Ryann Daly also won their doubles match for Durango 6-4, 6-2.
Ellie Gervais and Hailee Pritchard lost their doubles match 6-4, 4-6, 6-10. Emily West and Emma Hackett lost 4-6, 6-6 (7-1), 6-10.
Saturday, Gervais, Pritchard, Liberman, Harrelson and Audry Morris were recognized for senior day at Durango. The Demons also beat Montrose.
Durango got singles wins from Hackett, who won her match 4-6, 6-1, 10-8, and Liberman won her singles match in comeback fashion 1-6, 6-3, 10-8. Harrelson lost her singles match 5-7, 1-6.
The team of Hackett and DeCora won their doubles match 6-2, 6-1, and Chick and Daly won their doubles match 6-3, 6-2.
Gervais and Pritchard lost their doubles match 2-6, 6-6 (7-2), 5-10 for Durango, and Emily West and Morris lost 3-6, 6-1, 7-10.
