Letters: Marsha Porter-Norton, for housing

We younger workers in La Plata County find ourselves out of sync with the price of local housing. We need homes where we can feel securely settled. Whether buying or renting a home, we find it discouraging to endure a lifetime of long commutes on increasingly busy roadways to work, just to find housing that we can afford.

Marsha Porter-Norton is getting my vote for county commissioner because she will step into leadership with the power of experience and knowledge. She knows what has already been done and failed, and she knows the players who will commit to finding real solutions. She is dedicated to more collaboration and creating real opportunities for entry into the housing market. I took a look at her opponent’s campaign online and find aspirational comments such as a commitment to create “immediate” affordable housing. If he has the magic solution implied by his promise to create “immediate solutions” to the affordable housing crisis, then why has he not shared that with the community already?

Let’s get real, vote for Marsha!
