Go undercover to get real jail story

How well is our jail being run? Have any of you actually had to deal with how well it is run? Have you ever tried to send a book to an inmate using the information and website provided by the jail? Have you ever tried to see an inmate using the information provided by the jail? Do you know that, in our world of illiteracy, an inmate is allowed one book every two weeks provided by the library if the inmate fills out a request form two weeks prior to the book arriving? How long does a mentally ill patient under a psychiatrist’s care have to wait for medications provided by doctor’s prescriptions and delivered to the jail in plenty of time, with all proper instructions? Do you know how much a patient has to pay to see the nurse? Do you know if that nurse is buying over-the-counter meds and selling them at exorbitant prices to inmates in need?

Maybe The Durango Herald could put someone undercover in the jail and try to deal with the confusion a family or friend of someone in jail deals with every day and provide accurate information to the public on how well our jail is being run!
