I was happy to see Rep. Scott Tipton’s column in Sunday’s paper (Herald, Jan. 22). He made some important clarifications regarding the ACA that are too often ignored.
Most important was his point that health care insurance is not the same as access to health care. Health care is still out of reach for many.
I recognize that insurance companies are not charities and generating profits is their primary goal. As long as insurance carriers are restricted from a competitive marketplace we won’t see any relief from outrageous rates and deductibles.
Let’s give Republicans a chance to introduce a new plan. If you haven’t read the column, its worth digging that paper out of the recycle bin.
