Solid all-around passing helped the Bayfield High School volleyball team sweep the Intermountain League Pre-League Tournament on Saturday in Alamosa.
The Wolverines won all four matches and didn’t drop a set over the course of the event, defeating Alamosa (25-20, 25-13, 25-10), Monte Vista (25-11, 25-15, 25-12), Pagosa Springs (25-17, 25-17, 25-22) and Centauri (25-20, 25-16, 25-17).
“The team pledged to prioritize our first contact opportunities, being reliable on receive,” BHS head coach Terene Foutz said in an email to The Durango Herald on Saturday. “They performed well as a unit (Saturday).”
Kirstie Hillyer led the team with 36 kills and a .434 hitting percentage.
Suzie Rhodes had 79 assists and 13 aces from the setter position, while Maddi Foutz led BHS with 46 digs.
BHS has won its first six matches and will play Piedra Vista on Tuesday in its home opener.
