Durango missing benefits of hosting dog club events

The city of Cortez welcomed 98 dogs (yes, dogs) and their owners to Parque De Vida for an American Kennel Club-licensed agility trial June 4 to 6.

What a treat for the Durango Agility Dog Club to be able to hold a three-day trial at such a beautiful site. The site must accommodate two 100-foot by 100-foot rings, RV and day parking. The Cortez Parks and Recreation staff as well as Mayor Mike Lavey and the business community could not have been more welcoming.

Cortez, Dolores and Farmington all get the economic benefit from numerous Durango dog club events. We hope the day will come when Durango will have both the facility and welcoming organization to hold our successful events at home.
