Electoral College there for a reason

I am quite upset about our Democrat-controlled Legislature voting to give up our influence in national elections by trying to do away with the Electoral College. They simply don’t understand the purpose of the college and wrongly state that it would give states with smaller populations more influence nationally.

If you were a candidate, where would you spend more time – in a state with a population of four million, like Colorado, or a state where a single city, like Los Angeles, has a population of four million?

California has almost 40 million people, so I would imagine that candidates for president would spend the vast majority of their time in the most populous states, ignoring those of us with fewer votes to give them.

We’ve been a swing state, with influence. Giving that up by going to a popular vote is short-sighted and ignorant.

Don’t be deceived. Our Founders were very wise when they devised the Electoral College. Let’s show that we understand that by demanding a vote on this issue.
