The La Plata County Building Department will offer a four-hour training class for contractors and other county residents on the newly adopted 2015 International Energy Conservation Code. Robby Schwarz, an ICC Energy Code specialist, and the Building Department will provide the training, which will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

The Board of County Commissioners adopted the update to the IECC, amending Chapter 18 of the La Plata County Code, at its June 6 meeting. There are several significant changes from the previous 2009 IECC, including new insulation requirements, blower door test requirements and mechanical venting testing for new single family homes.
