RazzMaTazz Berries specializes in one thing above all else: raspberries.
The farm, located at 30 Road 3302 between Aztec and Flora Vista in New Mexico, produces both fresh berries and jams and invites people to visit and pick berries themselves.
“It’s wonderful to have people come out early in the morning and get back to nature,” said Sherry Hair, one of RazzMaTazz’s “worker bees.”
Hair said that RazzMaTazz is relatively unique as a you-pick farm because rather than weighing a customer’s pickings, the farm charges by the container.
RazzMaTazz chose to specialize in raspberries because the environment is well-suited to them, Hair said.
“Raspberries are relatively easy to grow in this area. We’ve got a wonderful field for that and drip irrigation, and so they just thrive really well,” she said.
This is the farm’s second year bringing its jams and berries to the Durango Farmers Market. Hair said she appreciates the market because its customers share the same philosophies about organic food as RazzMaTazz. Though the farm is not certified organic, it does not use pesticides or herbicides on its plants. Sherry is confident that this sets the farm’s berries apart.
“We’ve got the best-tasting berries in the Four Corners area,” Hair said.
