Geologist to speak to Rotary Club

Local geologist Jeff Brame will talk to the Rotary Club of Durango about the geologic history that created the San Juan Mountains at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

Brame will discuss how today’s San Juan Mountains landscape is the latest of four iterations of this mountainous area successively formed starting 1.7 billion years ago. These evolving landscapes resulted from a complex geologic history with evidence of each different San Juan Mountains version visible. He will explain this geologic history and succession of resulting landscapes.

Brame is owner of Brame GeoScience, LLC and has been a working geologist for more than 45 years.
