I enjoy supporting businesses of Durango, but it is my opinion that your elected representatives are making it difficult for me to be willing to spend any money that will go to them in taxes.
As a free American, I will choose to spend my resources where governments do not overreach. I believe that individual business owners should make decisions for their businesses, not mandated by governmental bureaucracy that is three months behind in making decisions.
To the elected representatives of the city of Durango, you are ensuring a longer economic recovery for businesses and employees whose work pays your salary. You made my decision easy about where to spend my money, which will no longer be Durango.
To employees and business owners, start taking your control back and I will be happy to support you again. I will gladly pay a premium to businesses that will deliver outside of the city limits, thereby not charging me city sales tax. If a company chooses to make masks mandatory outside of the government regulation, I will support their decision with my funds.
Everyone has the responsibility to do what is right and safe for themselves. There are not any enacted laws that restrict the free movement of Americans because of not wearing masks. Wearing or not wearing masks is a personal choice and should be defended equally.
To my friends of La Plata County, when will enough be enough? When are we going to take a stand against governmental overreach and bureaucracy?
