Based on personal knowledge of Bobby Lieb and the published credentials of his opponent, there is little doubt that both candidates have sufficient financial experience to comfortably handle the job of treasurer for La Plata County. Accepting this fact, and given that the treasurer position is decidedly ministerial rather than political, then the only remaining issue is experience in and understanding of La Plata County. This includes the gamut from its political realities to its economy and culture.
On this issue, there is no parity. As noted in The Durango Herald endorsement of Lieb (Oct. 14) and numerous letters to the editor in support of Bobby, he has been a tireless public servant for La Plata County and this community in many roles over the years. During this service, he has demonstrated uncommon statesmanship and balance in achieving objectives for the common good.
Based on his public service, Bobby has clearly gained a thorough understanding of the many essential facets of La Plata County for insightful and harmonious operation of the treasurer’s office. Bobby Lieb is the clear choice for La Plata County treasurer simply on his merits regardless of political stripe.
