Lieb is only candidate qualified for job

I’ve read letters to the editor supporting Allison Morrissey, her LinkedIn profiles (two profiles with conflicting data), Facebook and her campaign website. The Democratic candidate seeking to become our next county treasurer is not the person she portrays herself to be. Barbara Denk (Letters, Herald, Sept. 16) wrote “Allison Morrissey has an accounting degree and an MBA. She received the Colorado certified public accountants’ highest award for her performance,” which leads readers to infer that Morrissey is an award-winning certified public accountant with years of accounting and financial experience. She received her MBA in 1990 and her accounting degree in 2013. She is not an accountant or a CPA, having received her accounting degree only 17 months ago. The award she received recognizes a graduating senior with the highest GPA, not for outstanding service as a CPA.

She is not qualified, and I question her ability to function as steward of the county’s fiscal responsibilities. She claims a 48 percent county revenue drop (recession data) when in reality, gas and oil production value alone has shown a 39.6 percent increase, according to a letter from Craig Larson (Herald, Sept. 26). She claims to have knocked on more than 6,000 doors and listened to residents’ concerns. This would be logistically impossible if she is gainfully employed as stated on her profile. I find her statements and those of her supporters to be duplicitous and misleading, hardly worthy of a candidate for county treasurer. Honesty matters. Experience matters. Integrity matters. Trust matters. Vote Bobby Lieb for La Plata County treasurer.
