Next Step is the wrong step

Next Step is a step in the wrong direction for our downtown. Surely, you all remember the city’s last great project idea, an unsightly overpass over the Animas River and 32nd Street to extend the river trail northward. Thanks to a large public outcry, instead, we have a functional, safe and attractive underpass. Let’s again unite to keep this latest boondoggle from becoming reality. The city seems hellbent on proceeding with Next Step despite our petitions and objections. There is no rush to proceed with a project of this magnitude. We need to take our time to collectively formulate a sane plan for any revision of Main Avenue.

To add my own pet peeve, people walk down sidewalks to window shop or enter businesses. Wider sidewalks, why? They will steer shoppers away from businesses.
