The new format on the Sunday games page is somewhat of an improvement. I nearly went blind trying to read the crossword definitions before, now they’re the same size as the weekday puzzles. Good show. Bridge players might be mad, though. Jumble didn’t really need to be made so huge, but OK. However: Whoever was in charge of dumping some of the comics, both weekdays and Sundays, should never ever be trusted with any serious editorial tasks again.
They blew it! To have removed some well-drawn favorites and replaced them with truly dumb ones is unforgivable. And now we’re told sure, you can see more comics, but you gotta pay!
Huh? We pay for a print subscription and are expected to shell out more to get our faves back?
No way. Isn’t that like holding hostages for ransom money?
There’s an old saying, if it ain’t broke, leave it alone! Yes I know it’s really “don’t fix it,” but I’d use even stronger wording if I weren’t a lady.
I’m surprised that the Herald dumped Doonesbury, what with Gary Trudeau being a flaming liberal, just like the Herald. But the others dropped weren’t even political. Well, not so glaringly.
Still, they were reasonably intelligent or funny. Their replacements are neither. I’ve been hooked on comics since I started reading at age four. I liked the ones we had. Change is not always good and this one is disastrous!
