For eight years I had the pleasure to work for La Plata County at the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office. I worked alongside Sheriff Duke Schirard, who is up for re-election. I got to know him not only as the leader of a great team of employees at the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office, but also as a man of true character and honor. The vast majority of the employees working with him have a great deal of respect for Sheriff Duke Schirard – and in return, he treats everybody with respect. I got to know Sheriff Schirard as a man who stands up for what is right. He makes it a priority to keep the residents of La Plata County safe and has their interests at heart. To help him reach that goal, he built a top-notch team of deputies, investigators and support staff to work with him.
In contrast, I also got to know Sean Smith while I was working for La Plata County. I truly believe that Sheriff Duke Schirard is a much more capable candidate. Please vote to re-elect Sheriff Duke Schirard.
