I have known Duke Schirard for 25 years. He has been an outstanding marshal in Bayfield and an even better sheriff for the past 20 years. I recently read a letter where someone said that Duke should retire due to his age. Well, if you knew Duke at all, you would know just how intelligent he is. Just because he has bad knees doesn’t mean he makes bad choices or wrong decisions.

This man certainly cares about this county or he wouldn’t have been sheriff as long as he has and still be popular. He is loved by this community, and anyone who knows him knows he works hard for each and every resident – and will even out of office. He isn’t always politically correct, and he isn’t known for his grace; but, he is known to be a tough sheriff and always gets the job done.

La Plata County, continue to vote for Duke: He is our only choice.
