The Durango High School boys tennis team finished 13th out of 16 teams at the Western Slope Open on Saturday in Grand Junction.
Mountain Vista won the event with 197 points, while DHS finished with 57.
Ryder Searle gave the Demons their strongest showing, a fifth-place finish at the No. 1 singles position.
Searle defeated Keenan Kaltenbacher of Air Academy 8-4 on Saturday after a 3-6, 6-2, (10-5) opening-round loss to Chatfield’s John Koza and a 10-4 consolation win against Matt Harris from Fruita Monument.
Fred Edwards lost the No. 2 singles fifth-place match to Stefan Orton-Urbina of Air Academy after dropping his opening-round match and winning two consolation matches Friday.
The Demons next will play Sept. 19 at Pueblo South.
