Sean Smith has had a lifetime of service to his community. I have known Sean and his wife since they moved to La Plata County and personally know of his involvement in the development and implementation of several alternatives to incarceration programs that prevented the need for the construction of a much larger jail.
Sean was also the only member of the sheriffs department to actively participate in the Children Youth and Family Master Plan through the Coalition for Healthy Communities. This project identified the strengths and weaknesses of children in our community and suggested methods to improve the lives of children living in La Plata County.
Sean’s intelligence, community involvement and collaborative manner will help address some extremely critical issues as we move into the future in La Plata County. I strongly support Sean as a candidate for La Plata County Sheriff.
