Craft will return to El Moro Spirits and Tavern with a bat-themed food and beverage pairing event 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at El Moro, 945 Main Ave. The restaurant will be closed to the public for the evening.
Partial proceeds will benefit Bat Conservation International, a non-profit organization with a mission to conserve the world’s 1,300-plus species of bats, their habitats and their ecosystems. Coincidentally, Craft will be held during National Bat Week.
Craft is a cocktail party-type atmosphere, with guests invited to move among the five stations staffed with those knowledgeable about both the food and beverages.
The menu will include:
Honey dew melon, cantaloupe, tarragon, prosciutto, anise, paired with a riff on a “Dead Poet” cocktail featuring Tequila Ocho Plata, Dolin Dry, Hacienda De Chihuahua Sotol, house blueberry syrup, Yellow Chartreuse and a lime twist. Gulf of Mexico shrimp marinated in achiote and crusted with cilantro crystals and aleppo, served with avocado mousse and a roasted red pepper coulis and paired with Rogue Ales & Spirits’ Batsquatch Hazy IPA.Duck breast with a currant demi-glace and sweet potato hash paired with wine, a new world, full-bodied California Cabernet Sauvignon.Aioli de Mole Elote – mole and cashew crusted Elote corn (¼ ear of corn per serving), paired with Mezcal Derrumbes San Luis Potosi Mezcal.Pumpkin and ricotta gingersnap cookie sandwich with blackberry, paired with a Trinidad Sour variation featuring Bacardi 4-year Rum, Bacardi Black Rum, Angostura Bitters, lemon juice and simple syrup.Cost is $50 per person. Tickets are available at El Moro. The event is 21 and older.
